Introduction
This entry

detailing its locations, access services available, and how it is helping other
companies around it. Discussions will focus on the operations in the airport,
how it is easy to use and the main facilities that aid functionality of the
airport at its peak.
About Pediment Triad International Airport
The airport is located at the centre of North Carolina and the midpoint
of the East Coast, which imply that it is located at the hub of the Piedmont
Triad region. The situation of the airport is between the cities of
Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and high point, with over 4.5 million people living
within a 90 minutes drive to the airport (Pediment Triad International Airport,
2022).
The present
passenger terminal facility started operating on the 9th of October
1982, and it has been put through numerous expansions and renovations. This
passenger terminal building feature 296,000 square feet of two public levels,
65,000 square feet on the service level which is below the ground level,
parking positions for 25 aircrafts which is adjacent to the two concourses, and
separate area for ticket counters and baggage claims being used by the two
concourses (Pediment Triad International Airport, 2022).
In terms of
the airfield facilities, there are: the main runway, 5/23, measuring 10,001
feet in length; the cross-wind runway, 14/32, measuring 6,380 feet in length;
and the parallel runway, 5L/23R, measuring 9,000 feet long. The airport houses
the Marriott Hotel, which has 200 rooms, and it is located on the loop road
between the Ted Johnson Parkway and the terminal building complex (Pediment Triad International
Airport, 2022).
The airport is part of the 4,000-acre campus, with the
campus being home to over 50 companies that generate almost $6 billion into the
economy and local communities per annum. Over 8,600 people are employed in this
campus, with the airport being owned and operated by the Piedmont Triad Airport
Authority. The airport does not operate on any local tax dollars. The terminal
building is 24/7, with the TSA checkpoint opening at about 4:15 am each day. As
a transportation hub in the region, the airport is easy to reach by car, hotel
shuttle or tax. There are significant number of local transportation services
helping the airport get its passenger to their respective flights in a quick
and affordable way. There is also free shuttle available to and from the long
term parking lots to the terminal building 24 hours a day in about 10-20
minutes interval. There are also lift buses for the handicapped. Shuttles on
site also provide services to and from the Marriot hotel located within the
airport premises (Pediment
Triad International Airport, 2022).
The carrier share sees American with the highest share at
46%, followed by Delta with 40%, United with 10%, and Allegiant with 4%. The
main innovation on going at the airport is that Boom Supersonic is developing a
sustainable, supersonic aircraft that is capable of speeding twice as fast as
the commercial airlines in operation today. It is named Overture and it will be
205 feet long, with the ability to carry 65 to 88 passengers, and will have a
cruising altitude of 60,000 feet ad a range of 4,888 miles. The plan is to have
Overture in operating and enter service in 2029. To provide assistance for
that, the airport will involve in the development of a production hanger that
would be in front of the south side of the Interstate 73, which is where Boom
will be manufacturing the aircraft. On the same note, there would be additional
production facility as the demand comes up. Essentially, the airport is at the
middle of a boom in the aerospace industry, which has led to transformation of
the transport corridor along the interstate 40 into a job-rich region of
aircraft, manufacturing, supply of aircraft parts, and repair and maintenance
in the aviation sector (Pediment
Triad International Airport, 2022).
Conclusion
In
conclusion, the airport is located at the centre of the city’s industrial hub,
making it easy for passengers to access. It also operates 24 hours, which is a
good factor for the numerous aircraft industries located around it. It is shown
that the airport provides assistance to the aircrafts
